Type :— BRAZIL: Rio de janeiro: serra dos órg„os, rio beija flor um 1600m, 19 November 1942, Pereira 143 (lectotype, designated here (RB47351) [ RB00538148 ] and [ RB00538149 ]) .
Residual syntype:— Brazil: Rio de janeiro: serra dos órg„os epiphyt in walde, Ule 4240, 30 Dec 1896 (B [B100124354]).
Notes:—Edgar Irmscher described Begonia herbacea var. ellipticifolia with two collections (syntypes): Perreira 143 and Ule 4240. Pereira 143 is designated as the lectotype. There are two sheets considered as one collection, as they have the same collection number and same herbarium registriation number.
