Remarks. Distant (1881a) synonymized the species along with Fidicina determinata and provided the first record from Guyana. However, Fidicinoides determinata was removed from synonymy due to the different genitalia by Boulard & Martinelli (1996). Distant (1881a) and Uhler (1892) both list Demerara as a source of specimens. All other records for the species are from mountainous regions of Central and South America ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2013, 2018b, 2020c). The records from Guyana are considered to be Fidicinoides determinata as outlined above. As a result, Fidicinoides picea is removed from the Guyana cicada fauna.

Distribution. The modified distribution of the species is Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, and Venezuela ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2013, 2018b, 2020c) with Guyana no longer part of the distribution.
