Distribution. Southern Europe, North Africa ( Alonso-Zarazaga 2011a).
Material examined. Crimea: 1 spec. ( ZIN) Eupatoria, V. E. Yakovlev leg., 10.vii.1902 ; 1 spec. ( ZIN) Semidvorje, Yalta env., L. Bianki leg., 12–14.ix.1910 .
Biology. Xerothermic grasslands, ruderal habitats. Adults occur in V–X ( Dieckmann 1977). On Asteraceae : Cirsium vulgare ( Hoffmann 1958; Dieckmann 1977; Alonso-Zarazaga 1991; Wanat 1995); Carduus pycnocephalus , C. acanthoides , Cirsium arvense , Cynara scolymus ( Dieckmann 1977; Alonso-Zarazaga 1991; Wanat 1995); Carthamus tinctorius , Centaurea calcitrapa , C. solstitialis , Cynara cardunculus , Onopordum acanthium , Silybum marianum ( Alonso-Zarazaga 1991; Wanat 1995).
