Distribution in the Palaearctic region: Western Europe, Caucasia, Kazakhstan, Southern side of European part of Russia, Southern Siberia, Syria, Turkey and Greece ( Bei-Bienko & Mistshenko 1951; Willemse 1985; Mol & Zeybekoğlu 2013).
Distribution in the Turkish Thrace: First record for the study area.

Description of song: Omocestus petraeus male calling song generally consists of a polysyllabic phrase ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 B). The calling song lasts mostly for 2–4 s. Syllable numbers vary from 7 to 10 in a phrase ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 C). The duration of syllables changes between 220 and 360 ms ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 D).
