Distribution in the Palaearctic region: Europe, North and North Eastern Africa, Canary Islands, Caucasia, Kazakhstan, Cyprus, Corsica, Middle Asia, Sicilia and Sardinia ( Bei-Bienko & Mistshenko 1951; Soltani 1978; Mol & Zeybekoğlu 2013).

Description of song: The male calling song consists of a polysyllabic phrase ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 B). The calling song lasts mostly for 4–14 s. Syllables can be identified as sharpener, in high density, and numbers vary from 9 to 42 in a phrase ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 B). The duration of syllables changes between 50 and 80 ms Each syllable generally consists of 2–3 pulses in different amplitude modulation and its duration lasts for 6–8 ms ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 C). Most of the middle pulse is in high amplitude than the rest in the syllable.
