Diagnosis (updated after Rousse & van Noort, 2013). Background colour strongly variable, from mostly black to mostly reddish with occiput and mesosoma latero-ventrally black, and pale yellow markings: orbits, dorsal margin of pronotum, tegula, notaulus more or less, posterior and lateral margins of scutellum, and mid-posterior triangle of tergites 2 and following if remainder of tergite black, triangle otherwise concolourous reddish; legs reddish-orange with fore and mid coxae variously pale yellow, and hind coxa black; flagellum and ovipositor sheath reddish, more or less infuscate; wings hyaline, venation yellowish; face polished, sparsely to moderately densely punctate; clypeus polished, sparsely and shallowly punctate, its ventral margin distinctly concave medially; malar distance moderately long to long; antenna with 25–28 flagellomeres; pronotum more or less coarsely striate ventrally, nearly smooth dorsally; mesopleuron densely and deeply punctate, except speculum smooth and depression below speculum weakly rugulose to quite smooth; metapleuron coarsely punctate-rugose; mesonotum densely punctate, notaulus indistinct, scuto-scutellar groove smooth with weak cross carina laterally; propodeum short, more or less coarsely punctate rugose; anterior transverse carina present, more or less weakened laterally, posterior transverse carina strong; metasoma coarsely and deeply punctate, but oblique impressions costulate; ovipositor slightly upcurved. Male with face extensively yellow, otherwise similar to female. B 4.2–5.5; A 3.0–4.3; F 3.5–4.6; MD 0.7–0.9; OT 1.4–1.7.
