Mesosmylina Bode, 1953 View in CoL
Type species. Mesosmylina exornata Bode, 1953: 247 (by original designation).
Diagnosis. Forewing ovoid; costal area relatively broad basally and narrowed distally, subcostal veinlets simple, rather widely spaced basally, denser distally towards pterostigma, rarely forked; numerous crossveins in RA-RP area; RP branches numerous, dense and slightly sinuous distally; origin of RP1 variable, sometimes distant from origin of RP; MA-MP fork variable, usually before origin of RP1 but sometimes beyond RP1 and before RP2; MA few branched distally; MP slightly pectinate; crossveins in radial to intramedial spaces arranged in six gradate series, irregular proximally CuA pectinate; CuP with just a few pectinate branches (2–3); HW unknown.
Comments. The presence of multiple discreet gradate series throughout the radial and medial areas of the forewing, along with the pectinate CuP appears diagnostic. Mesosmylina sibirica Ponomarenko likely does not belong to this genus, and even its osmylid affinity needs a confirmation; it is only tentatively included here.
