Eoophyla kingstoni sp. n.
Type locality: Malawi: Dzalanyama.
Imago (Fig. 72): Wingspan 12-13mm. Head white; labial palpus curved upwards, slender and pointed; maxillary palpus also slender and pointed; antenna dull yellow. Thorax whitish. Forewing white; an obscure yellow median fascia; fuscous dot on costa just beyond halfway; terminal area yellow interrupted by a white wedgeshaped costal strigula, edged fuscous on both sides; silver-grey tornal spot; termen with a series of blackish dots. Hindwing base white; a yellow median fascia edged with some fuscous scales; a few pale fuscous scales on white postmedian area; double fuscous subterminal line; five black terminal eyespots separated by yellow wedges, two metallic dots on 2, 3 and 4, one each on 1 and 5; inner half of terminal cilia dark fuscous. Legs whitish, darker on joints. Abdomen yellowish white.
Male genitalia (Fig. 124): Uncus long and narrow; gnathos ¾ uncus, digitate slightly tapered, with spines on dorsum near apex; valva with costa strongly arched at 1/3, termen slightly sinuate with a blunt point near dorsum, a single specialized seta arising just below middle of termen, curved inwards reaching back about 0.6x length of valva; juxta with spines on each side. Aedeagus narrow, simple, with a sclerotized plate towards apex. Sternum 8 with a sclerotised plate (Fig. 123c) which is long and slightly tapered, with a central projection at the posterior end.
Female genitalia (Fig. 166): Ostium wide; antrum long at first cylindrical, then with sclerotised ridges tapering a little towards colliculum; corpus bursae about equal in length to ductus bearing signa comprising a pair of short clusters of spines, situated at 1/5 length of corpus.
Tympanal organs: Venulae waisted, then continued either side of tympanals.
Diagnosis: Distinguished from the closely related E. citrialis by its slightly smaller size, more contrasted markings on both forewing and hindwing; in the male genitalia the specialised seta is only gently curved, rather than angled; the female genitalia measure 2.4mm from tip of ovipositor to posterior end of corpus bursae and the signa are placed nearer the colliculum.
Derivation: After Tony Kingston who took all known specimens.
Biology: Unknown.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
