HOLOTYPE. GNM 4418.
TYPE LOCALITY. Siah Kuh (Black Moumains) in the central part of the Kavir Protected Region about 150 km south of Teheran, Semnan Prov., Iran .
DISTRIBUTION. Endemic to Iran.
DISTRIBUTION IN IRAN. Fig. 135 View FIGURES 134–139. 134 . So far reported from three nearby localities in Semnan and Tehran Prov. HABITAT. Unlike most other Ophiomorus species , O. nuchalis lives in more rocky habitats and on bare stony ground with only sparse and patchy vegetation dominated by Artemisia herba-alba . Mozaffari et al. (2011a) found four specimens burrowed in loose soil layer mixed with plant detritus under bushes.
