Protologue citation:—“EASTERN HIMALAYA : Chumbi, 11,000 feet, at Pan-ka-be-see-mo and Tan-ka-la, (Dr. King’s collectors!); E. Nepal, at Pey-kiong-la, (Mr. Pantling’s collectors!)”.

Type:— CHINA. Tibet: Chumbi , Pan-ka-bee-see-mo, 11,000 ft., 24 Aug. 1884, King’s collector 30 (lectotype CAL0000019070 !, second-step, designated here, first-step designated by Husain et al. 2010: 37) ; isolectotype CAL0000019071!

Syntypes:— CHINA. Tibet: Chumbi, North of Zeylepla (Jelep La or Zalepla), Tang-ka-la, 13 Aug. 1882, King’s collector s.n. (CAL0000019069!, K000739141!).

Notes:— Pedicularis tenuicaulis was described by Prain (1889) based on the specimens of King’s collectors from Chumbi, China and East Nepal by Pantling’s collectors. Husain et al. (2010: 37) designated the collection from Pan-ka-bee-see-mo, Chumbi, China of King’s collector 30 at CAL as the lectotype. Because currently two herbarium sheets from Pan-ka-bee-see-mo, Chumbi, China of King’s collector 30 exist at CAL (CAL0000019070 and CAL0000019071), the best preserved specimen CAL0000019070, is chosen here as the second-step lectotype for the name P. tenuicaulis Prain.
