( C. tricolor var. cupanianus Sa’ad):
Distal part of sepals ovate to lanceolate, acute to long-acuminate, conspicuously longer than proximal part. Sicilia; naturalized elsewhere.
This species is often cultivated for ornament, and the natural ranges of the two subspecies have evidently become partly obscured by introductions.
