Like 34 but involucral bracts usually muticous, the outer shorter than the inner, obtuse; spikelet-bract absent or rudimentary; calyx-tube usually hirsute throughout. 2« = 18. Maritime sands. • S. Portugal and S. W. Spain; Corse and Sardegna. Co Hs Lu Sa.

Var. velutina Coutinho , with longer, narrower, more or less puberulent leaves and longer scapes, known from S.W. Portugal, could perhaps have originated by introgression with 36.
