Stem 5-15 cm. Leaves 1-3 cm, orbicular to ovateelliptical, crenulate to serrulate, light green; petiole shorter than lamina. Cauline scale 1. Flowers 13-20 mm in diameter. Calyxlobes 1-5-3 mm, ovate, obtuse, erose-denticulate. Petals ovatelanceolate, white. Anthers 2-5-3-2 mm. Style 5-7 mm, not expanded below the stigma, straight. 2n=26. Woods, usually coniferous.
