Rhizome usually horizontal, bearing erect, unbranched, pubescent flowering stems up to 45 cm. Leaves 3-7 x 2-5 cm, mostly basal, ovate to ovateorbicular or elliptical, obtuse, crenate, ciliate, long-petiolate. Bracts 4—11 mm, ovate-acute or -acuminate, entire, membranous, ciliate. Corolla 17-21 mm, dark bluish-violet, twice as long as calyx. 2« =12. Grassy places in mountains; calcicole. Pyrenees, Alps. Au Ga Ge He Hs It Ju.
