Glabrous. Stems 20-60 cm, simple or branched above. Lower leaves scale-like, oblong-spathulate; upper leaves up to 20 x 8 cm, elliptical to ovate or obovate, somewhat acuminate, cuneate at base, entire, petiolate. Pedicels 2-4 cm, filiform, nodding. Calyx c. 1 cm. Corolla 1 -5-2-5 cm, dark brownish-violet outside, yellowish to brownish-green within. Capsule c. 1 cm in diameter, globose. In = 48. C. & S.E. Europe, extending to Italy, C. Ukraine and Lithuania. Au Cz Hu It Ju Po Rm Rs (B, W) [Da Ge].
