Stems 15-30(-40) cm, more or less erect, usually branched, with short appressed eglandular hairs. Leaves 2-3 cm, triangular to deflate, crenate, more or less obtuse, pubescent to velutinous. Internodes of inflorescence c. 10 mm. Bracts 10-12 mm, shorter than flowers, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, entire, green. Corolla (10—) 12—16 mm, white. Rocky places. S.E. Europe. S. vacillans Rech. fil. , Bot. Arch. (Berlin) 43: 12 (1941), from Greece and the Aegean region, is like 6 but has the corolla often violet or bluish, and may be related to 5. Further investigation is required.
