Stock fusiform. Stem 20-60 cm, rather stout, much-branched, densely hairy with very short hooked hairs and setae up to 2(-3) mm. All cauline leaves except the uppermost petiolate, slightly cordate to truncate or rounded at the base, not decurrent, rather densely hairy on both surfaces, asperous. Calyx 4-7 mm, lobed to $—f. Corolla (8-)9-12 (—15) mm, pale yellow; lobes not recurved. Scales Ungulate, rounded or sometimes emarginate at the apex, the marginal papillae up to twice as long as wide, scattered towards the base. Stamens with filament mostly shorter than anther; anthers 2-3 mm, 2£-4(-5) times as long as wide. 2« = 18. Woods. S.E. Europe. Bu Rm Rs (C, W, K, E).
