Like 47 but up to 20 cm and more robust; corolla4-5 mm in diameter, deep blue; style c. 1-5 mm; seeds c. 1-25 x 1 mm. 2/z = 16. Dry places. E. & E.C. Europe, northwards to the Baltic region, and extending locally westwards to N.E. Spain. Au Cz Ga Ge G r He Hs Hu It Ju Po Rm Rs (?B, C, W, K, E).

The distribution of this species is uncertain, as many authors do not separate it from 47.
