Indian records. Jammu & Kashmir— Akthar (1972), Nath (1994).

Remarks. Valid species described from USA ( Birge 1893). This is a North American species ( Smirnov 1976) and its presence in the Oriental zone is dubious.

Moina banffyi Daday, 1883

Indian records. Rajasthan — Biswas (1971); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984); Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).

Remarks. This species was described from Hungary ( Daday 1883) and regarded as a junior synonym of M. macrocopa (Straus, 1820) (see Smirnov 1976). “ Moina banffyi ”, recorded from Rajasthan ( Biswas 1971), apparently belongs to M. macrocopa (see Michael & Sharma B.K. 1988).
