Remarks. Valid species described from Norway ( Sars 1862b). Apparently this is a group of close species (Van Damme et al. 2010). Some Indian records of “ A. costata ” could be misidentifications of A. cheni Sinev, 1999 , yet more than one species of the A. costata group could be present in the country, and also members of the A. rusticagroup , which are easily confused with A. costata , remain hitherto unreported from India (yet are present in the neighboring regions).
Distribution. It was regarded cosmopolitan, but real distributional range is unclear, with regional speciation.

Type locality. "A shallow pond about half hectare in area, located near the Railway Station of Sarai Banzara ( District Patiala )", Punjab ( Battish 1981) .
Indian records. Punjab — Battish (1981); General record— Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Species inquirenda. No ideas what is it? Description is inadequate.
Alona diaphana , see Leberis diaphanus
Indian records. Rajasthan — Biswas (1971); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984); Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. A. glabra is a valid Neotropical species described from Brazil ( Sars 1901), redescribed by Sinev (2001b). It is a member of the A. pulchella- complex (Van Damme et al. 2010). Its presence in the Oriental zone is very unlikely. Probably, authors of these records meant either A. cambouei or A. pulchella or a related species such as A. archeri , which are very similar in morphology to A. glabra .
