Type genus and species. Juragomphus karatauensis Nel et al., 2001 ( Callovian-Kimmeridgian or Oxfordian-Kimmeridgian , Karatau, Southern Kazakhstan) .

Emended diagnosis. We need to modify the family diagnosis proposed by Nel et al. (2001) as follows: forewing discoidal triangle transverse, equilateral, divided into three cells or more, and very broad.
