Etymology. Named after the Oxfordian period and the genus name Gomphus . Gender masculine.
Type species. Oxfordgomphus trescellulae Huang & Nel sp. nov.
Diagnosis. Forewing discoidal triangle equilateral, subdivided into three cells; two rows of cells in postdiscoidal area just distad discoidal triangle.
