Gribodia Zavattari, 1912: 161 View in CoL . Type species: Monobia cavifrons Gribodo, 1892 View in CoL [= Odynerus confluentus Smith, 1857 ], by original designation.

Diagnosis (from Zavattari (1912)). Head transverse; face flattened; lateral ocelli deeply subtriagularly incised; clypeus pyriform with anterior margin truncate. Labium subtriangular, with ciliate margin and very long with four segments, bearing thick-skinned punctures modestly distinct; labial palp with three segments, segments long and slender, the third segment bears a long bristle at the apex; the palpus shorter than half the length of the labium. Maxillae of medium length; galea as long as the palpus; maxillary palp with five segments, the first longer than the following, regularly decreasing in length. Mandible with four teeth, the longest tooth sharp, almost forming a beak. Antennae regular, rather slender, 12-segmented in female, 13-segmented in male, the last article of male hook shaped. Mesosoma subquadrate; mesoscutellum quadrate; metanotum truncate posteriorly and crenulate on posterior margin, laterally separated from the middle part by a deep line; propodeum carinate on the lateral margin and spiny; mid-tibia with one spur. Metasomal segment 1 sessile, subspherical basally and subcylindrical posteriorly, metasomal segment 2 wider than first. Wings with radial cell subtriagular, apically indistinctly truncate, three cubital cells closed, second with transverscubital vein interstitial with discoidal vein.
