Distribution: U.S. and Canada, Europe east to Armenia ( Haeselbarth, 2008).
Specimens examined (North America only): Thirty-seven from 21 collection events; questionable female identifications: three from two collection events.
Flight period: Approximately 85% from May and June.
Remarks: Drea (1968) documented morphological differences of the eggs and ovaries between M. colesi and M. aethiops .
