Distribution: North America.
Specimens examined: Twenty-one from 14 collection events; questionable female identifications: three from three collection events.
Flight period: May through September.
Remarks: The distinction from M. pilatus presented in the key is challenged by three specimens from three collection events (not listed above under “Specimens examined”) that are intermediate between the two species.
