Material studied. Holotype ( CHILE) ♂: four original labels ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ): "nördl. Cuesta Buenos / Aires b. La Serena / Chile,lg.H.Franz 1963" with "SA 38" on the reverse side [white, printed; reverse handwritten], " Euconnus / anthiciformis / m. / det.H.Franz" [white, handwritten and printed], " Anthicimimus / anthiciformis / m. / det.H.Franz" [white, handwritten and printed], " Typus " [red, handwritten] ( NHMW). A white printed label was added during the present study: " ANTHICIMIMUS / anthiciformis ( Franz, 1967) / det. P. JAŁOSZYŃSKI, '2015".
Diagnosis. This is the only known species of Anthicimimus and can be identified on the basis of generic characters.
Description. Body of female ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ) elongate and very slender, flattened, with long appendages, BL 1.63 mm; cuticle glossy, uniformly brown; vestiture slightly lighter than cuticle.
Head ( Figs 1 View FIGURES 1 – 3 , 4 View FIGURES 4 – 6 ) in dorsal view round, strongly convex, broadest at eyes, HL 0.30 mm, HW 0.30 mm; tempora much longer than eyes; vertex short and broad, strongly convex, anteriorly confluent with frons; frons subtrapezoidal, strongly convex between eyes and rapidly declining anteriorly; supraantennal tubercles indistinct; eyes small, round and weakly projecting laterally. Vertex and frons with inconspicuous fine punctures and short, sparse, suberect setae, tempora and genae with thick bristles. Antennae ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ) long, slender and weakly thickened, AnL 0.93 mm; antennomere I strongly elongate and in lateral view slightly curved, three times as long as broad, II–VIII each distinctly elongate, IX–X indistinctly longer than broad, XI slightly shorter than IX and X together, about 2.5× as long as broad, with slightly asymmetrical apex.
Pronotum ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ) in dorsal view bell-shaped, broadest near anterior third, PL 0.38 mm, PW 0.33 mm; anterior margin arcuate; anterior corners indistinct; sides strongly rounded in anterior half and slightly constricted in posterior fourth; posterior margin arcuate; base with distinct transverse groove. Pronotal disc with fine and inconspicuous punctures; setae on dorsal part short, sparse and suberect, sides with dense bristles with admixture of long and suberect setae.
Elytra oval, broadest anterior to middle, strongly narrowing both anteriorly and posteriorly; EL 0.95 mm, EW 0.55 mm, EI 1.73; basal impressions indistinct, subhumeral lines present, distinctly carinate. Hind wings not studied (to avoid disarticulating of elytra).
