Type species: Neomochtherus micrasiaticus Tsacas, 1968 Tsacas (1968: 312) .
Pale light colored flies with a somewhat asetose, or bare appearance. The few prominent dorsocentral bristles are confined to the postsutural area of the scutum, not reaching the margin. The facial gibbosity is ventral and short. Male epandrial lobes reddish color, prominent, and clublike. Ovipositor with segments 8 and 9 compressed, segment 9 short, and cercus free (not embedded into surrounding segments).
