Type species Probrachista nepalensis Viggiani View in CoL , by monotypy and original designation.

Diagnosis. Head with mandible either 3-dentate or 2-dentate and a truncation; maxillary 1-segmented. Antennal formula 1, 1, (1), 1, 3; clava 3-segmented, rarely 2-segmented; antennae with bristle like setae on funicle and clava. Mesosoma with mid lobe of mesoscutum and scutellum each with 2 setae. Forewing broad, densely setose; setae not arranged in rows; stigmal and marginal veins well developed. Gaster with elongated ridge-like reticulations.

Male. Unknown.

Species. Worldwide, 6 species; 2 species from India including 1 new species described here.

Hosts. Unknown.

Distribution. Oriental and Afrotropical.
