Indo-Pacific; western Pacific Ocean north to Japan (Nakabo in Nakabo 2002); northern Baja California (29°46’N, 115°42’W) (Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California) to Chile ( Pequeño 1989). Depth: surface to 342 m (1,122 ft) (min.: Hulley in Smith and Heemstra 1986; max.: Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006b).
