Chubby Flashlightfish or Chubby Lanternfish. To 9 cm ( 3.5 in) SL ( Wisner 1976). Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to Japan (Nakabo in Nakabo 2002), southern Kuril Islands ( Parin et al. 1995); Oregon ( Matarese et al. 1989) to Chile ( Nafpaktitis et al. 1977). Mesopelagic (Hulley and Paxton in Carpenter and De Angelis 2016); depth: 0–2,979 m ( 9,771 ft) ( Porteiro et al. 2017).
