Melittia inouei Arita & Yata, 1987 View in CoL
( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 8 )
Material examined. 1 ♀ [South China, Gao fung, 9.vi.1917, coll. Mell], gen. prep. AK188 ( MNHB) ; 1 ♀, Prov. Shaanxi, Lueyang , 20–29.vii.2011 ( CAK) ; 1 ♂, Prov. Guangdong, Shaoguang, Nanling , 600 m, 2–6.vii.2012 ( CAK) .
M. inouei View in CoL is known from Japan and Korea (Arita et al. 2004). Based on a historical specimen from the Mell collection, it was reported for China for the first time recently ( Kallies 2007). According to Zukowsky (1929) (as M. bombyliformis Cramer ), the specimen was collected on the 9.vi. 1917 in “Gao fung” (South China); however, the precise locality could not be established. We here report another two specimens from China, thereby confirming the occurrence of M. inouei View in CoL in China. The male from Nanling was attracted to pheromone lures in the late morning.
