Nothrholaspis turcicus sp. nov.

( Figs 1–6 View FIGURES 1 – 6 , 19–21 View FIGURES 19 – 27 )

Diagnosis. Dorsal shield with 29 pairs of setae; dorsal setae j6, J2, J3, J5, z5 and z6 simple; z1 not reaching base of j2; distance between setae J2 and J3 170–225 μm; ventral shields bearing only simple setae except for pilose postanal seta.

Specimens examined. Holotype, female, Turkey, Gümüşhane, Şiran, 40° 09' N, 38° 57' E, alt. 1457 m, 29 May 2011, from debris under Pyrus sp. Paratypes, seven females, same data as holotype. Description. Female.

Dorsum ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Dorsal shield oblong, 1113–1269 μm long, 601–680 μm wide at the level of r4, ornamented with reticulation and covered with micropunctation on surface; shield bearing 29 pairs of setae (J3 present); setae j6, z5, z6, J2, J3, J5 smooth and needle-like, other setae distally pilose; seta z1 short (not reaching bases of j2) and pilose; distance between setae J2 and J3 about 170–225 μm; length (μm) of setae: z1, 12–17; z5, 30–49; z6, 40–56; j5, 65–75; j6, 43–52; J2, 43–69; J3, 47–70.

Venter ( Fig.2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Sternal shield ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ) 212–222 μm long, 201–204 μm wide at the level of coxae II, ornamented with polygonal sculpture pattern, elliptic pattern between setae st2 and st3; shield bearing three pairs of equal length needle-like setae. Metasternal shield free, elliptic, with a simple seta and a pore. Genital shield 250–260 μm long, 210–226 μm wide, circular and micro-sculptures on surface, bearing a pair of simple setae; genital setae of some specimens with bifid or trifid distal tip, mostly blade-like. Three pairs of different size apodemes present between genital and ventrianal shield. Ventrianal shield ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ) longer than wide, 306–370 μm long, 309–283 μm wide, heart-shaped, L/W=1.02–1.18. Ventrianal shield ornamented with reticulate lines and fine punctation. Ventrianal shield with three pairs of needle-like preanal setae and a pair of anal setae and a short pilose postanal seta. Anterolateral extensions of cribrum reaching bases of anal setae.

Gnathosoma ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Three pairs of hypostomatic setae and a pair of palpcoxal setae present; all the setae simple; h3 longest, h2 and pc equal in length, seta h1 surpassing length of corniculi. Deutosternal groove with five rows of denticles. Chaetotaxy of palp trochanter, femur and genu 2-5-6. Palptarsus with a trifid apotele. Epistome with a large base, median process distally bifurcated, lateral processes distally bifurcated and laterally smooth ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Chelicerae ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 19 – 27 ) well developed; length of movable digit of chelicerae 120 μm, fixed digit 117 μm long at the level base of dorsal seta; fixed digit with pilus dentilis and a dorsal seta serrate laterodistally. Arthrodial brush densely pilose and reaching to half of movable digit ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ).

Legs: Normal for the genus. Coxae I with a pair of simple setae, short seta lanceolate. Coxae II–III with a spine-like simple setae and a pilose seta; coxae IV with a pilose seta. Tarsus II as in Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 6 .

Habitat. In Kelkit Valley, it is found debris under Juniperus sp., Coryllus sp., Pyrus sp., Quercus sp., Rosa sp., Salix sp. and Populus sp., and in stream deposits and moss in localities at altitudes between 891 and 1279 m.

Etymology. The species is named after the type locality, Turkey.
