TYPE LOCALITY: U.S. S. R., Tatarsk. A.S.S. R. (=Kazansk. Obi.), Volga River .
DISTRIBUTION: Deciduous woodland from Asia Minor and N. and C. Iran to Tien Shan Mtns. (Sinkiang, China) and through the Caucasus to Moscow ( U.S. S.R.), west to Carpathians, E. Alps, and Balkans; isolated populations in Calabria, and Israel.
