Global distribution: NT.
Argentinian distribution: Buenos Aires, La Pampa, Río Negro.
Ecology: This species shows a preference for permanent and lentic environments. It was recorded at low altitudes (20–123 m a.s.l.), with temperature values between 20.3 and 24°C, in alkaline waters (pH: 9.9) with electrical conductivity values ranging from 1738 to 8900 μS/cm.

Remarks: This species has been previously included in the Eucypridinae subfamily ( Fontana & Ballent 2005), however, Meisch et al. (2019) mentioned this genus in an “uncertain subfamily”.
