Global distribution: AT, AU, NA, NT, PA.
Argentinian distribution: Buenos Aires, Río Negro, Santa Cruz.
Ecology: This species was recorded in ephemeral and permanent sites. It was found at altitudes between 20 and 1027 m a.s.l., with water temperatures ranging from 8.1 to 21.7°C, electrical conductivity values between 59 and 3600 μS/cm, neutral to alkaline pH (6.8 - 9.9) and dissolved oxygen concentrations from 6 to 17.5 mg /l. This cosmopolitan species is tolerant to environmental variations.
