Global distribution: NT.
Argentinian distribution: Catamarca.
Ecology: This species was recorded in Andean lakes and hot springs sediments. It was observed in high altitude environments (3500–4700 m a.s.l.), with temperature values around 28 °C, alkaline waters (pH: 8.3), and an electrical conductivity of 204 μS/cm.
