Redescription. Measurements (n=30): WH: 0.65–0.85; LH: 0.5–0.6; LA: 1.8–2.3; LE: 0.25; LT: 0.1; LP: 0.65–0.85; WPmax: 0.85–0.95; WPmin: 0.6–0.7; LES: 1.15–1.75; WE: 1.25–1.6; WA(IV): 1.25–1.5; LAE: 0.65–0.9; TL: 3.7–5.5 (holotype of L. binotata : 3.8).
Forebody brown to black; each elytron often with distinct yellow brown to red brown elongated macula ( Fig. 12−19 View FIGURES 12–20 ), extending diagonally from shoulders toward suture, sometimes larger covering significant part of first third of elytron; sometimes elytra with very indistinct maculae or without them; antennae, ocelli, legs and abdomen yellow-brown to brown (sometimes apex of femuri slightly darker); mouthparts, tarsi, sometimes base of antennomeres I−II and apical margin of abdominal tergite VIII yellow. Pubescence of forebody dense, tender, moderately long, decumbent, yellow; pubescence of abdomen shorter, sparser, decumbent. Head with slightly convex frons and vertex, 1.3−1.4 times as wide as long, with moderately prominent eyes; eyes twice longer than temples; ocelli distinct, small; distance between ocelli slightly shorter than distance between ocellus and posterior margin of eye. Punctation deep and regular, denser on infraorbital ridges; interspaces between punctures without microsculpture, glossy. Antennae long ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 4–11 ), reaching anterior third of elytra; measurements of antennomeres (holotype): I: 0.25 × 0.087; II: 0.175 × 0.075; III: 0.2 × 0.075; IV−IX: 0.176 × 0.075; X: 0.176 × 0.076; XI: 0.25 × 0.077. Pronotum convex and transverse, 1.3−1.4 times longer than head, widest in anterior third, without discal impressions. Punctation denser, deeper and larger than that on head, regular; interspaces between punctures as wide as diameter of half or one puncture, without microsculpture, glossy. Scutellum with several fine punctures; interspaces between punctures without microsculpture. Elytra long, 1.7–2 times longer than pronotum, slightly convex; lateral sides may be greatly or slightly expanded; hind margins slightly rounded. Punctation regular, denser and coarser than that on pronotum, punctures larger; some specimens with denser punctation near scutellum and base of elytra; interspaces between punctures as diameter of one to two punctures, without microsculpture, glossy. Wings fully developed. Tarsomere I of metatarsus as long as the combined length of tarsomeres II−III, approximately as long as tarsomere V. Abdomen convex, slightly narrower than elytra; abdominal tergites with fine indistinct punctation and with isodiametric microsculpture; abdominal tergite V−VI with paired tomentose spots.
Male. Protarsi with dilated tarsomeres I−IV. Sternite VIII with strongly emarginate posterior margin. Aedeagus ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 27–29 ) relatively wide, gradually tapering toward pointed apex in apical third; parameres significantly longer than apex of aedeagus; endophallus with paired sclerotized structures overlapping with each other in apical part. Aedeagus laterally as in Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27–29 . Parameral surface of median lobe of aedeagus as in Fig. 29 View FIGURES 27–29 .
Female. Protarsi with tarsomeres not dilated. Sternite VIII without emarginate posterior margin.
Comparative notes. By the presence of maculae on the elytra and by the character of punctation, L. binotata is similar to L. maculipennis and L. schawalleri sp.n. From L. maculipennis it differs by the significantly longer antennomeres, by the longer tarsomere I of metatarsus, by the narrower pronotum and generally smaller maculae on elytra. From L. schawalleri sp.n. it differs by the less convex head, by paler legs and by wider pronotum. L. binotata is similar to L. frischi sp.n. in having long antennomeres and longer tarsomere I of metatarsus, from which it differs by the lighter coloration, larger punctation and wider elytra. From all species L. binotata is distinguished by the shape of the aedeagus.
Remarks. The original description of L. binotata is based on a single holotype (male) from "Taschkend" (Tashkent, Uzbekistan). L. syriaca was described on a male holotype from " Syrien (Beirut..)" ( Luze 1903). An examination of the types of both taxa and the additional material yielded no evidence that L. binotata and L. syriaca are distinct species. Hence the formal synonymy is proposed above. In the collection of Vienna Museum I additionally found one male of L. binotata , collected in the same type locality (Beirut) with the label "CO- TYPUS" (see the additional material). Nevertheless there was no evidence to designate a paralectotype here because Luze (1903) clearly specified a single type specimen of L. syriaca .
After the original description, L. binotata was recorded by Smetana (1967) from Turkey, Adana (Bürücek- Toros) . It is here recorded for the first time from Georgia, from several provinces of Turkey (Mersin, Antalya, Malatya and Kahramanmaraş) and from Iran .
