Diagnosis. Upper latus with umbo apical; inframedian latus narrow, triangular (rarely rectangular) with umbo basal or sub-basal; carinal latus large, umbo sub-carinobasal, apex of carinal latus not or only slightly extending beyond carinal margin.

Type species. Scalpellum zenkevichi Zevina, 1972 .

Composition. 27 species.

Distribution. Worldwide. Known depth range 204 to 4800 m.
