Cyriocosmus Simon, 1903

Cyriocosmus Simon, 1903: 929 , type species Hapalopus sellatus Simon, 1889 ; Mello­Leitão 1923: 156; 1939: 46 (nec C. nigriventris ); Bonnet 1956: 1340; Schiapelli & Gerschman 1973: 64; Pérez­Miles 1998: 96.

Pseudohomoeomma Mello­Leitão, 1930: 57 , type species P. fasciatum Mello­Leitão 1930 ; Bücherl et al. 1971: 125; Schiapelli & Gerschman 1973: 61. First synonymized by Gerschman & Schiapelli (1973: 48).

Erythropoicila Fischel, 1927: 72 , type species E. plana Fischel, 1927 . Raven 1985: 152. First synonymized by Raven (1985: 152).

Diagnosis: The male can be distinguished from all other theraphosids, except some Hapalopus species, by the presence of a paraembolic apophysis on male palpal bulb ( Figs 1– 22 ). Male Cyriocosmus can be distinguished from Hapalopus by the divergent branches on the tibial apophysis ( Figs 23–33 ). The female can be distinguished from all other theraphosid species by having a sinuous or spiral spermathecae neck with a convex base ( Figs 34–39 ).
