dianthus Kerremans, 1892b: 823 View in CoL . ( Agrilus View in CoL ) new status nodosus Kerremans, 1894: 470 View in CoL –471. (Agrilus) coelicus Bourgoin, 1922: 24 View in CoL . ( Agrilus View in CoL )
dorri Bourgoin, 1925: 131 View in CoL . ( Agrilus View in CoL )
Agrilus dianthus Kerremans View in CoL , lectotype Ψ, MCSN, designated by Descarpentries & Villiers (1963): “Bhamò Birmania Fea [leg.] [p] X [h] 188 [p] 6 [h] \ Typus [p] [red ink, red bor der] \ dianthus Kerr. View in CoL [h] [black border] \ A. dianthus Kerr. View in CoL typus! [h] [yellow label] \ dianthus Kerr. View in CoL Type [Kerremans' manuscript] \ Museo Civico di Genova [p]”. Number of syntypes is unknown. Descarpentries & Villiers (1963: 52, 53–54) by the mention about type: “ Birmanie (type de dianthus View in CoL au Musée de Gênes)” validly fixed the lectotype (ICZN, Article 74.6) and they proposed it as a subspecies of A. acutus View in CoL .
Type locality. [ Myanmar] Bhamò [24°16'N, 97°14'E].
Agrilus nodosus Kerremans View in CoL , lectotype ɗ, BMNH, by present designation: “SYN TYPE [p] [round label with blue border] \ Bima Boucard [leg.] [Kerremans' manuscript] \ nodosus Kerr. View in CoL Type [Kerremans' manuscript] \ Kerremans 1903 –59. [p]” and one paralectotype from the same locality as lectotype. Described from two specimens. Descarpentries & Villiers (1963: 53, 54) proposed it as a synonym of A. acutus dianthus View in CoL .
Type locality. Bima [site unlocated]. Descarpentries & Villiers (1963) assumed Bima to be Birmanie [ Myanmar]: “ Birmanie (type de dianthus au Musée de Gênes)”.
Agrilus coelicus Bourgoin View in CoL , lectotype Ψ, designated by Descarpentries & Villiers (1963), MNHN: “Vieng Vai 12VI1918 Luang Prab. [h] \ Agrilus coelicus View in CoL Type Bourg. [h] \ TYPE [p] [red ink] \ MUSÉUM PARIS 1935 coll. A. THÉRY [p]”. Single paralectotypes are preserved in BMNH and ISNB. Number of syntypes is unknown. Descarpentries & Villiers (1963: 54) by the mention about type: “LouangPrabang (type de coelicus View in CoL , Muséum de Paris)” validly fixed the lectotype (ICZN, Article 74.6). Descarpentries & Villiers (1963: 54) proposed it as a synonym of A. acutus dianthus View in CoL .
Type locality. [ Laos] Luang Prab. [= Louangphrabang province], Vieng Vai [site unlocated]. No type locality was cited by Bourgoin, but presumably “IndoChine française” as indicated in the title. The type locality is stipulated from the place of origin of the lectotype ( ICZN, Article 76.2.).
Agrilus dorri Bourgoin View in CoL , lectotype Ψ, designated by Descarpentries & Villiers (1963), MNHN: “Long Xuyen Cochinchine Dorr [p] \ Agrilus Dorri A. Bourgouin View in CoL [black ink] Type [red ink] [h]”. Number of syntypes is unknown. Descarpentries & Villiers (1963: 54) by the mention about type: “ Type de dorri View in CoL au Muséum de Paris” validly fixed the lectotype (ICZN, Article 74.6). As a synonym of A. acutus dianthus View in CoL proposed by Descarpentries & Villiers (1963: 54).
Type locality. [ Vietnam] Cochinchine: Long Xuyen [10°23'N, 105°25'E].
Remarks. Agrilus dianthus has an allopatric distribution with A. acutus and has been considered as a subspecies of A. acutus . The examination of numerous specimens has revealed that A. dianthus is a generally larger (6.6–10.2 mm) and well distinguished species (see remarks at A. acutus and key to species).
All records from peninsular SE Asia cited under the name A. acutus or its synonyms pertains to A. dianthus , for example Baudon 1961: 75 (as A. acutus ). Very interesting is a single record of A. dianthus from the Indonesian part of Borneo.
