“ Maia portulacifolia ”, Feijó in Pereira & Santos 2012: 502 (descr.inval.).
ETYMOLOGY. — “ Maia ”, the name of the genus, is probably dedicated to António de Faria e Maia , governor of Cabo Verde between 1784 and 1795 ( Roque & Torrão 2013); as for the name of the species
“ portulacifolia ”, leaves resembling those of Portulaca L.
ECOLOGY. — Annual species, present in many stations.
ÉCOLOGIE. — Espèce lignifiée, occupant des terrains arides et incultes.
NOM VERNACULAIRE. — « Alecrim bravo », dénomination encore utilisée aujourd’hui.
NOTE
La sève de la plante est irritante (brûle) « succus causticus ».
