Pselaphomorphus agametopus Vásquez-Vélez View in CoL n. sp.
( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 )
Diagnosis. Pselaphomorphus agametopus is characterized by the combination of head length (at least four times as long as wide), and characters of the antennae, legs and overall body shape. Base of antennal tubercle not cordate. This species can be distinguished from P. longissimus by lighter coloration, and the aedeagus possessing two accessory lobes, one of them divided.
Description. Male. Body length 2.9 mm. Body flattened dorsally, amber, with yellow pilosity. Head elongate (length 0.9 mm, width 0.4 mm), base of the antennal tubercle broad, 1.5 times diameter of eye. Head longitudinal sulcus wider between eyes, spindle-shaped. Eyes rounded (diameter 0.2 mm). Antennal length 2.4 mm. Antennomere lengths as follows: 1 (0.14 mm), 2 (0.08 mm), 3 (0.1 mm), 4 (0.2 mm), 5 (0.2 mm), 6 (0.18 mm), 7 to 10 (0.26 mm), 11 (0.32 mm) truncate basally and acuminate apically. Maxillary palpi amber, with short and even pilosity. Pronotum quadrate (length 0.5 mm, width 0.5 mm). Lateral lobes triangular, basally and apically rounded. Antebasal lobe depressed medially, transverse sulcus wider medially, with projection towards pronotal disc. Longitudinal sulci wider basally. Elytral length 0.95 mm, width 0.95 mm. Humeral teeth and elevation present. Sutural fovea transverse and deep. Basal discal fovea rounded. Abdominal segments I–V, dorsally with lengths as follows: 0.35, 0.1, 0.1, 0.1, 0.15 (mm). Ventrally, posterior margin of segment V circular, segment VI with an elongate depression, pygidial suture not visible. Genitalia. Phallobase bilobed, with long arms. Median lobe divided into two pieces articulated with phallobase interior. Dorsal piece straight and slender, ventral piece straight and weaker towards apex. Two accessory lobes articulated to both sides of phallobase and surrounding median lobes. Right part of accessory lobe divided medially into two short branches ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 B and 5C).
Type material. Holotype (male): “ Colombia, Antioquia, above Rio Anori. 550 m. IX-15-1970 ” ( FMNH). Etymology. Noun in apposition. Named after the Greek agan signifying ‘much’ and metopus meaning ‘face’ ( Brown 1956), thus referring to the characteristic long head of this species.
