Diagnosis. Pselaphomorphus wagneri is characterized by the combination of a reddish body with yellow pilosity and triangular pronotal lateral lobes. This species can be distinguished from P. veracruzanus and P. mayaorum by the shape of aedeagus, which is slender and slightly curved in S shape.
Description. Male. Body length 2.6 mm. Body flattened dorsally, reddish, with yellow pilosity. Head pearshaped (length 0.65 mm, width 0.4 mm), base of the antennal tubercle as long as diameter of eye. Longitudinal sulcus wider between eyes, spindle-shaped. Eyes kidney-shaped (diameter 0.15 mm). Antennal length 1.4 mm. Antennomere length as follows: 1 (0.12 mm), 2 and 3 (0.08 mm), 4 (0.1 mm), 5 (0.12 mm), 6 (0.1 mm), 7 to 10 (0.14 mm), and 11 (0.2 mm), clava inconspicuous. Maxillary palpi amber, with short and even pilosity. Pronotum transverse (length 0.45 mm, width 0.5 mm). Lateral lobes triangular, basally and apically round. Antebasal lobe rectangular, at least five times wider than long. Pronotal disc square, longitudinal and transverse sulci with same width thoroughly. Elytra length 0.75 mm, width 0.9 mm. Humeral teeth present. Sutural fovea transversely elongate and deep, followed by sutural stria. Basal discal fovea transversely elongate. Abdominal segments I–V dorsally with length as follows: 0.5, 0.1, 0.1, 0.1, 0.15 (mm). Ventrally, segment V distally round, segment VI with elongate depression, pygidial suture present. Genitalia. Phallobase regular, with short arms. Median lobe long and slender, curved medially to left and apically to right. Apical end membranous. Median lobe projected dorsally, not further than phallobase. Type material. Holotype (male): “ Mexico, Oaxaca 7.3 mi. S. Valle Nacional. 2300 m. VIII-15-1973. A. Newton. U.V. blacklight” ( FMNH).
Etymology. Patronymic. Named after the late Pselaphinae specialist John A. Wagner (Field Museum, Chicago).
