Redescription. Male. Body length 2.4 mm. Body flattened dorsally, brownish, with yellow pilosity along body. Head pear-shaped (length 0.6 mm, width 0.4 mm). Base of antennal tubercle at least as long as diameter of eye. Longitudinal sulcus wider between eyes, spindle-shaped. Eyes kidney-shaped (diameter 0.1 mm). Antennal length 1.25 mm. Antennomere length as follows: 1 (0.1 mm), 2 (0.075 mm), 3(0.075 mm), 4 and 5 (0.1 mm), 6 (0.085 mm), 7 to 9 (0.1 mm), 10 (0.15 mm), and 11 (0.25 mm), clava inconspicuous. Pronotum quadrate (length and width 0.5 mm). Lateral lobes triangular, rounded basally. Antebasal lobe rectangular, at least five times wider than long. Longitudinal and transverse sulci with similar width thoroughly. Elytra length 0.6 mm; width 0.75 mm. Humeral teeth absent. Sutural fovea and basal discal fovea transversely elongate. Abdominal segments I–V dorsally with length as follows: 0.4, 0.05, 0.05, 0.05, and 0.06 (mm). Ventrally, segment V distally round, segment VI with elongate depression. Genitalia. Phallobase regular, with short arms. Median lobe wider towards apex, distally divided into two arms. Right arm subdivided into two slender branches, projected dorsally. Left arm shorter, curved toward right arm. Accessory lobes absent ( Figs. 29 View FIGURE 29 B, 29C).

Note. The female specimens listed above are considered to belong to P. sculpturatus because they were compared to and found matching one particular female (labeled “ Panama, Las Cumbres. X-24-1975. Sift litter. D. Chandler”) compared by D. Chandler to the Motschulsky type, deposited in the Zoological Museum of Moscow State University, Russia. The males listed in the material examined are considered to belong to this species because they come from the same localities as the females, many of them were collected in the same events, and correspond in body size to the females.
