Discussion: Most probably, this species refers to the only known Scandinavian Torrenticola species having the shoulder plates fused with the dorsal shield, T. amplexa Koenike, 1908 (see Lundblad 1968). However, as the holotype of T. spinirostris is lost, and the original description does not provide sufficient diagnostic features (e.g., measurements of palp segments), T. amplexa cannot be considered its junior synonym. Torrenticola spinirostris is a species incerta , with all published records being of uncertain significance.
