Type material. Holotype. [ KOREA] ♂, Mt. Seolag , GW, 8 viii 1977 (leg. H Kuroko), gen. slide no. HNUSEL- 5368 -coll. HNU.

Diagnosis. This species is similar to the congeneric species of the genus Eteoryctis , but it can be distinguished by the rather small sized adults with a wingspan of 6.0 mm; valva of male genitalia slightly reduced with half the width of E. deversa apically, and apical rounded; tegumen more stout than other members of the genus with sparse long setae laterally.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–3 ). Wingspan 6.0 mm.

Head covered with silvery white slender scales, smooth on vertex and erected on occiput; frons also white; maxillary palpus minute, rough-scaled and white with a tiny pale gray spot on apical part or the spot absent; labial palpus white with a bit of ochreous at median part laterally; antenna ochreous dorsally and white ventrally; scape darker than the rest of flagellomeres dorsally and white ventrally. Thorax white with pale ochreous color. Tegula milky ochreous, slightly darker than forewing ground color; legs white; fore coxa entirely white; fore femur with ochreous shading dorsally; fore tibia dark ochreous on dorsal margin; fore tarsus with four ochreous rings, first and second ring almost adjoined; middle femur with ochreous spot at median to apical part dorsally; middle tibia with a small ochreous spot at lateral median part and a fuscous ring on subapical part; middle tarsus with four fuscous rings, first and second rings with small intervals and the rest at same intervals; hind femur and tibia white with a tiny ochreous scales; hind tarsus with four ochreous rings, the second tarsomere is the broadest, ca. 2 times broader than other tarsomeres in width; apex of tarsus ochreous ventrally.

Forewing lighter in coloration, ground color pale ochreous; a white longitudinal streak stretches from base to 5/6 of forewing along termen, and meets dorsal margin and bents loosely to apex of forewing; a white stria on costal margin near apex is present, it is not edged with black scales; it stretches outward and meets at median part with white disc of apex; a white disc area on apex with a black spot centrally; cilia ochreous and white on tornus. Hindwing silvery gray with long cilia.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4–7 ). Tegumen broad at base, as long as valva, a pair of setose area on lateral sides, but more sparse than in E. deversa . Valva slightly reduced compared with other species of the genus; apex rounded; costal and ventral sides are parallel at base to median part; valva slightly swollen at apical part. long and slender setae densely cover apical part continuing to basal part except for costal area; basal setae sparse and long. Vinculum membranous; saccus narrow and short. Aedeagus narrow, tubular-like, approximately as long valva, vesica without cornuti only with zigzag wrinkles initiating at apex and continuing to 1/3 of aedeagus.

Female genitalia. Unknown.

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin “ minimus ”, meaning ‘small’ and refers to small-sized adult.

Distribution. Korea (endemic).

Host plants. Larva of the new species feeds on Rhus japonica L. [ Anacardiaceae ] in Korea.
