Stenoloba acontioides sp. n.
( Figs 12 View FIGURES 1–15 , 49 View FIGURES 48–57 )
Type material. Holotype: female, China, Prov. Yunnan, Simao, Beishan , 17.v.2013, H.L. Han & C. Zhang leg., slide HHL-6185-2, coll. NEFU.
Diagnosis. The species can be recognized by olive with whitish wing pattern on brown background. Externally this small species, resembles some species of the genus Acontia Ochsenheimer ( Noctuidae, Acontiinae ), however by the presence of the frontal protuberance and structure of female genitalia with long cup-like antrum the species undoubtedly belongs to the genus Stenoloba . The species has very characteristic unique appearance within the genus by its conspicuous forewing pattern. Because the male of the new species is unknown its species-groups affiliation is uncertain.
Description. Adult ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 1–15 ). Wingspan 23 mm. Head and thorax brown with olive-greenish scales, patagia bordered with greenish-brown; basal part of thoracic tuft reddish brown; abdomen grey. Forewing rather narrow, lanceolate; costal margin markedly arcuate, terminal margin convex, apex acute. Ground colour of forewing dark brown with pale whitish-olive suffusion, especially expressed in subbasal and medial fields; wing pattern represented by intensive pale suffusion bordered with thin light line; four distinct spots and whitish tinged with olive-green postmedial line. Basal field as dark brownish-black basal mark; subbasal field with intensive pale olive-whitish filing which is limited by distinct subcostal whitish spot and ventral brownish area bordered with thin whitish line; medial field brown with pale olive-whitish dusting and distinct orbicular and claviform encircled with thin brown line; reniform olive with brown and with whitish vertical nucleus on whitish background; postmedial line distinct, whitish, with two prominent white spots in ventral part; subterminal and terminal fields brownish, separated by thin indistinct whitish like; veins in subapical area dusted with whitish scales; terminal line dark brown, interrupted; cilia brownish, pale at base. Hindwing greyish brown, darker to terminal area, with indistinct discal spot; cilia pale yellowish with brown.
Male unknown.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 49 View FIGURES 48–57 ). Ovipositor weak, moderate in length; apophyses anteriores and posteriors ones weak, almost equal in length; antrum sclerotised, long and rather broad funnel-like, with sclerotised u-shaped fields posteriorly, slightly extended anteriorly; ductus bursae very short in length, with small lateral sclerotised plate; corpus bursae elongate-ovoid, moderate in length, membranous slightly sclerotised in caudal part, with three short, slightly sclerotised appendix bursae.
Etymology. The species name S. acontioides refers to its external similarity to Acontia species ( Noctuidae, Acontiinae ).
Distribution. Southwest China (Prov. Yunnan). The species is known in China only from its type-locality Prov. Yunnan, Simao, where it occurs in mountains at elevation 1200–1500 m. Single female was collected in May.
