Ref.: Usinger & Matsuda, 1959 ( Pictinus ?); Kormilev & Froeschner, 1987: 186 (cat.) Note.: Usinger & Matsuda, 1959: 360 stated, that many species placed in this genus in the past, belong to other genera. They recognized only 4 species as true Pictinus , all from Neotropics. Pictinus varicolor Distant, 1913: 160 from Mahé, Sechelles Islands proved to belong to the Oriental genus Chiastoplonia China, 1930: 204 ( Samoa), (Heiss, 1994). It is very unlikely that pauliani is a true Pictinus which is to be proved. Therefore the present generic assignment is tentative.
