Diagnosis. Frons with a pair of broad pale brown median stripes along fronto–orbital setae and extending to vertex. Face yellow with a pair of pale brown stripes, confluent on upper margin. Hind femur with a row of weak av (only 3 apical setae distinct). Wing with two triangular hyaline marginal areas present between apical spots on R2+3, R4+5 and M1; apical spots on R2+3 and R4+5 with basal extremities slightly beyond vertical level of dm-cu; basal extremity of apical spots on R4+5 slightly before vertical level of spot on R2+3. Abdomen yellow, male tergites 2–5 each with black posterior margin and tergites 4–6 each with a narrow brown triangular median spot confluent with black posterior margin.
Description. MALE. Body length 5.1 mm, wing length 5.9 mm.
Head yellow. Frons yellowish brown with a pair of broad pale brown median stripes along fronto–orbital setae and extending to vertex, and as long as wide and parallel–sided; ocellar triangle yellow; oc developed, nearly as long as anterior or. Face yellow with a pair of pale brown stripes, confluent on upper margin. Gena about 1/4 height of eye. Antenna yellow except tip of 1st flagellomere slightly brown, 1st flagellomere about 2.0 times as long as high; arista black plumose except pale brown base, with longest setula nearly as long as height of 1st flagellomere. Proboscis yellow, with yellowish and blackish setulae; palpus yellow, with blackish setulae.
Thorax yellow with sparse grayish white pruinosity. Mesonotum with 0+3 dc, acr in somewhat irregular 8 rows and prsc longer than anteriormost dc. 1 anepst, 2 kepst. Scutellum yellow. Legs yellow, except tarsomeres 3– 5 pale brown. Fore femur with 5 strong pv and 8 pd, and ctenidium with 14 short setae; fore tibia with 1 strong preapical ad and 1 short apv. Mid femur with 4–6 a and 1 app; mid tibia with 1 strong preapical ad, 6 short p and 3 strong apv. Hind femur with a row of weak av (only 3 apical setae distinct) and 1 preapical ad; hind tibia with 1 preapical ad and 1 short apv. Wing ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19 – 33 ) hyaline, brown stripe–like apical spots on R2+3, R4+5 and M1 slightly confluent, extending to tip of vein; two triangular hyaline marginal areas present between apical spots on R2+3, R4+5 and M1; apical spots on R2+3 and R4+5 with basal extremities slightly beyond vertical level of dm-cu; basal extremity of apical spots on R4+5 slightly before vertical level of spot on R2+3; apical spot on M1 longer than 1/2 length of ultimate section of M1; a brown cloud on dm-cu, slightly constricted at middle; subcostal cell hyaline; costa with 2nd (between R1 and R2+3), 3rd (between R2+3 and R4+5) and 4th (between R4+5 and M1) sections in proportion of 3.3 mm: 0.7 mm: 0.5 mm; r-m at middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 2.0 mm: 2.7 mm; ultimate section of CuA1 about 1/6 of penultimate. Halter yellow.
Abdomen yellow, male tergites 2–5 each with black posterior margin and tergites 4–6 each with a narrow brown triangular median spot, confluent with black posterior margin. Male genitalia ( Figs. 39–43 View FIGURES 39 – 43 ): protandrium circular, with dorsal setulae, a nearly rectangular ventral segment and a setula around spiracle; epandrium broad with four pairs of dorsal setae in posterior view; surstylus wide digitiform in lateral view but slightly triangular in posterior view, with short setulae and many tiny teeth; hypandrium nearly H–shaped in ventral view; gonopod nearly triangular; aedeagus consisting of a pair of triangular dorsobasal processes, a pair of subuliform ventrobasal processes, a pair of acuate dorsoapical processes and a small distal incision; aedeagal apodeme shorter than aedeagus.
FEMALE. Unknown.
Type material. Holotype 3 ( SYSU), CHINA, Hunan Province: Zhangjiajie, 7–9. VII. 1994, Mingfu Wang and Chuntian Zhang.
Distribution. China (Hunan).
Remarks. The new species is somewhat similar to Homoneura (Neohomoneura) bigibba Sasakawa from Vietnam in the following characters: wing with brown stripe–like apical spots on R2+3, R4+5 and M1 slightly confluent, extending to tip of each vein; brown apical spots on R2+3 and R4+5 with basal extremities slightly beyond vertical level of dm-cu; male abdominal tergites 2–5 each with black posterior margin, tergites 4–6 each with a narrow brown triangular median spot confluent with black posterior margin. But it can be separated from the latter by the frons being yellowish brown with a pair of broad pale brown median stripes along fronto–orbital setae and extending to the vertex; the face being yellow with a pair of pale brown stripes, confluent on upper margin; the basal extremity of apical spot on R4+5 being slightly before the vertical level of the spot on R2+3; the surstylus having one process, digitiform in the lateral view with short setulae and many tiny teeth; the aedeagus having a pair of acuate dorsoapical processes, but no lateral processes in the ventral view. In H. (N.) bigibba , the frons and face have no spots, only with a broad carina situated between the bases of the antennae; the basal extremity of the apical spot on R4+5 has same vertical level of spot on R2+3; the surstylus has two processes consisting of a subtriangular outer process with several long setae and an inner process rod–like in lateral view, but no tiny teeth on the subtriangular outer process; the aedeagus has a pair of lateral processes in the ventral view. ( Sasakawa, 2001).
Etymology. Latin, denticuligera meaning with tiny teeth, referring to the surstylus with many tiny teeth; a feminine adjective.
