Procycloneura Edwards View in CoL
Procycloneura Edwards 1932: 140 View in CoL . Type-species, P. paranensis Edwards View in CoL (mon.).
P. furcata Freeman 1951: 80 View in CoL , fig. 154 (♂ terminalia). Type-locality: Argentina, Río Negro, Puerto Blest. Holotype ♂, NHM.
( Figure 113 View FIGURES 113–123 )
Notes. The type series included the male holotype, two male and one female paratypes, all of which are at the NHM. The holotype labels are as follows: “ Procycloneura / furcata [hw] / Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // [male terminalia on a microslide attached to an acetate sheet] // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Lago Nahuel Huaí. / Eastern End. / 2–3.xii.1926.” // “ Argentina: / Terr. Río Negro. / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 254300”. The holotype is in fairly bad condition. Both wings have been lost, as well as the head and most of the legs distally to the coxae. The paratypes are numbered BMNH(E) # 254301-3. The wing of one of the paratypes was mounted on a separate slide, at the NHM Diptera slide collectin .
P. morosa Edwards 1933: 320 View in CoL . Type-locality: Peru, Mamara. Holotype ♂, MTD.
( Figure 114 View FIGURES 113–123 )
Notes. The type series included the male holotype (in the MTD) and two female paratypes, of which one female paratype is at the NHM. Hence, the indication of syntypes for this species in Papavero (1978: 33) is incorrect. The paratype at the NHM ( BMNH (E) # 254320) is in bad condition, both wings and the abdomen missing. One of the legs is glued to the micropin base .
P. paranensis Edwards 1932: 140 View in CoL . Type-locality: Brazil, Paraná, Rio Negro. Lectotype ♂, NHM (here designed).
( Figure 115 View FIGURES 113–123 )
Notes. The type series included eight male and one female syntypes ( BMNH (E) # 254311-9). They are all in excellent condition. One of the males is herein designated lectotype. Its labels are: “ Rio Negro / Parana. / 1925 [hw]” // “ Brazil: / Th. Borgmeier. / B.M. 1931-577.” // “SYN- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with light blue border]” // “Type” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “ Procycloneura / paranensis Edw [hw] / F.W. Edwards / det. 1930 [pr]” // Procycloneura / paranensis / Edwards / det. J.E. Chainey 1995 [pr]” // “BMNH(E) # / 254311 ).
P. similis Freeman 1951: 81 View in CoL , fig. 155 (♂ terminalia). Type-locality: Argentina, Río Negro, Lago Correntoso. Argentina (Río Negro), Chile (Llanquihue, Osorno ). Holotype ♂, NHM.
( Figure 116 View FIGURES 113–123 )
Notes. The type series included the male holotype and seven male paratypes, of which the holotype and six male paratypes are at the NHM . The holotype labels are: “ Procycloneura / similis [hw] / Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // [male terminalia on a microslide attached to an acetate sheet] // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Lago Correntoso. / 3–14.xi.1926.” // “ Argentina: / Terr. Río Negro. / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 254304”. The paratypes are in good condition, one of the specimens has its terminalia dissected ( BMNH (E) # 254305-10) .
